Southeast Ministries Food Pantry/Assistance - serving those in need in our surrounding zip codes; a cooperative ministry with several other churches. Help pack food boxes, do clerical work, answer the phone, interview clients, etc.
Volunteers in Public Schools:
Broadmoor Elementary Library - serve by relieving the librarians, assisting children in the use of library materials, helping with checking in and out and reshelving of books.
Broadmoor Elementary Classroom - make a difference in public education by helping children at Broadmoor Elementary School through tutoring, assisting in the classroom, and mentoring to the students.
Broadmoor Elementary Grounds - helps to keep the campus beautiful and inviting for students. There are many opportunities in landscaping and maintenance at our "Partner School."
Angel Tree - Angel Tree is a branch of
Prison Fellowship Ministry and is a Christmas gift program for children of incarcerated parents. Our congregation supports Angel Tree through a 4
th grade level Bible per family, and individuals who choose to buy one toy and one clothing item requested per child and return these labeled and wrapped for delivery. We serve 100 children each Christmas season. Donations towards Bibles are welcome. Visit

United Methodist HOPE Ministries - serve those in need in north Baton Rouge living near the Winbourne Ave. center. Volunteer to work in the Food Pantry, the Children's Clothes Closet, or interview clients. There's always need for repairs and maintenance on the buildings and grounds!
Habitat for Humanity - Habitat For Humanity is an international organization which provides simple decent housing for families who could not afford the opportunity otherwise. Whether you're good with a hammer or saw or you are good at making cookies and sandwiches, Habitat needs you. We build a house from the ground up once a year. We also remodel/restore homes throughout the year. Volunteers are also needed to give support and guidance to the new homeowners.
Red Cross Disaster Shelter - The goal of this team is to help evaluate requests or opportunities for relief help of all kinds and determine what kind, when and how we can provide help for those cases where our church can be effective and needs to be involved. Our single largest relief effort is the opening, staffing and operation of a Staff Shelter as needed for American Red Cross volunteers who come into our area to provide help to those directly affected by a disaster. Each year, before the hurricane season we hold a meeting to briefly refresh everyone on the team and recruit replacement and/or new members.
Kairos/Kairos Outside - Care for those in prison/prisoners loved ones. Be on a weekend team at one of our state's prisons to change lives by God working through you. Or help reach out to inmates with special projects and seminars.
Volunteers in Mission - Be a part of a Mission Team to locations international, national, and local. Do construction work, medical work, or ministry such as Vacation Bible School. "Make a Christian Difference" in your own back yard and in god's back yard!
Vietnamese Ministries - Join with others as we continue to develop our outreach to the Vietnamese community in Baton Rouge. Plans for a summer day camp are already underway.
English as a Second Language Instructor - No knowledge of a foreign language is necessary - just a heart for helping others to learn to speak English. Teaching in teams and helping welcome others to our campus make this an exciting opportunity for service at Broadmoor.
